The SI3461-KIT Evaluation Board is a dc/dc and ac/dc off-line switcher power supply module designed to evaluate and test the performance of Silicon Laboratories’ highly integrated SI3461 PWM controller with an integrated large current N-channel MOSFET. This board operates over an input voltage range of 8 Vdc to 60 Vdc and includes a 1-ph/2-ph half-bridge rectification with an output voltage of 3.3 Vdc @ 25 A or 12 Vdc @ 15 A. It also includes an adjustable output voltage regulator and switching frequency of up to 500 kHz.
The evaluation boards provide an excellent platform for bench topevaluation and testing with programmable parameters such as pulse-width, voltage regulation and output voltage. This board also includes a built-in thermal protection feature for over-temperature situations. Additionally, the board also includes a set of test points for easy access to signals and support for debugging and operation.
The board is designed to provide an efficient and reliable power supply for applications such as computers, networking, storage and server equipment, instrumentation, automotive and industrial control systems. This board is designed to run in the range of 20-500 kHz. It also offers protection features against over-voltages and short circuit conditions, and has a wide operating temperature range.
The working principle of the SI3461-KIT relies on the use of pulse-width modulation (PWM) control for efficient regulation of the output voltage. This type of control monitors the output voltage and adjusts the pulse width of the voltage inquiries so that the output voltage remains steady and accurate.
