Programmable oscillators can be employed to generate signals at pre-defined frequencies. These oscillators are capable of being programmed to cover a wide range of operating frequencies. SIT8008BI-71-XXX-000. FP0000E is a programmable oscillator that produces a high resolution bandwidth over wide frequency range.

This oscillator operates on a digital phase-locked loop (DPLL) which uses a low power CMOS technology chip. This oscillator produces a wide frequency range of up to 70MHz, with 15.625kHz step resolution. Mainly designed for digital television systems, this oscillator has single side band phase noise and fit into small packages.

The frequency of the oscillator is controlled by a programmablevalue by using a frequency byte. It is capable of superimposing on/off bits to enable or disable the oscillator. It has a low jitter, which is beneficial for applications that require high frequency stability. In addition, this oscillator is available with high voltage options and can operate in a wide temperature range.

The working principle of this oscillator is based on the DPLL principle. This oscillator requires the use of external loop filter components to control the loop gain. The loop filter is composed of two resistors and a capacitor connected in series or parallel. This oscillator provides a feedback signal to the loop filter which is then compared to the reference element. The output frequency of the oscillator is determined by the comparison of the two signals.
