The SMOV25S181NP is a TVS (Transient Voltage Suppressor) Diode that is a commonly used form of protection against over voltage, surges and electrostatic discharge (ESD). It is used to protect equipment and data lines from high voltage induced electrostatic energy, thus preventing damage to sensitive devices such as computers, smartphones, and other electronics. The SMOV25S181NP is a multilayer varistor, MOV (metal oxide varistor), which is constructed of stacked metal oxide layers that are separated from each other by a ceramic-like dielectric material.
