SN75C3232EPWG4 is a high-speed, low-power transceiver designed to help reduce system cost and board space in communications applications. This is a dual-channel transceiver designed to support full-duplex systems. It is suitable for Ethernet, and provides a two-pin differential line interface, one bi-directional mezzanine port, and four additional pins to configure the bi-directional mezzanine port.

Working principle
The SN75C3232EPWG4 transceiver works in two modes - full-duplex and half-duplex. In full-duplex mode, the device transmits and receives data simultaneously on the two-pin differential line interface. The two-pin differential line interface is designed such that the data is transmitted on one line and received on the other line. In half-duplex mode, the device either transmits or receives data at a time on the two-pin differential line interface. The bi-directional mezzanine port is usually configured as output in the full-duplex mode, while it is configured as input in the half-duplex mode.
The SN75C3232EPWG4 is based on Digital-to-Analog Conversion (DAC) technology and uses driver circuits for bi-directional communications. These driver circuits can send signals on the mezzanine ports depending on the configuration in the full-duplex or half-duplex mode. The device supports Open Loop Crossover Control (OLCC) for reliable interoperability with the differential line interface. OLCC is a method of enabling the circuitry on the receiver side to detect when the transmitter has sent a high voltage level in an extended mode called‘ crossover’. The device also supports noise-canceling Fuzzy Logic (FLT) circuitry for improved performance in noisy environments.
The device features burst start and burst count modes to reduce latency in high-speed applications. In burst start mode, the device automatically sends a start-of-burst signal when it receives start-of-burst signal from the mezzanine port. In burst count mode, the device transmits and receives data according to the configured burst count.
The SN75C3232EPWG4 also supports a range of advanced features including stream mode, Receiver Identification Technology (RIT) for flexible protocol support, auto acknowledge for improved robustness, and auto-retransmission for improved message integrity.
