The TAP107M020CRW is a high-performance, ultra-low profile wirewound tantalum capacitor suitable for a wide range of applications. It is perfect for applications that require ultra-low profile installation and in need of long-term reliability while cost-effectively meeting the specifications requirements.TAP107M020CRW tantalum capacitors are designed with a construction that provides connection to two main electrodes – anode and cathode – using a wire wound layer as the dielectric. When voltage is applied to the anode, electrons flow through the wire winding and towards the other terminal, the cathode. This generates an electrostatic field between the two main electrodes, the anode and cathode. This electrostatic field provides the capacitor with the capability to store energy.
The dielectric layer of TAP107M020CRW tantalum capacitors is formed by a tantalum pentoxide layer, which is formed on the anode as a result of the electrolysis reaction between the Tantalum dioxide (Ta 2O 5) and the electrolyte solution. This dielectric layer develops when a current is applied to the capacitor while in the presence of the electrolyte solution, which creates a potential difference between the anode and the electrolyte solution. This potential difference breaks the bonds between the O2 molecules, creating a film of Tantalum pentoxide (Ta 2O 5) between the anode and the electrolyte, thus forming a dielectric layer.
