Thyristors have a wide range of applications, and one type of thyristors, the TISP4219H3BJR-S, is commonly used both as a power electronic component and for industrial applications. In addition to Gate Controllable Turn-On Thyristor (GCTOT), the TISP4219H3BJR-S device also functions as a Bidirectional Thyristor (BJT). BJT’s, also known as two-terminal thyristors, are commonly used in light dimming and speed control applications. BJTs work by utilizing a voltage to control current flow across the two terminals. When the voltage is applied to the BJT, it functions in the same way as a GCTOT, but instead of turning on an output device, the BJT is used to control the flow of current across the two terminals.
