Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors

Aluminum electrolytic capacitors (AECs) are one of the most widely used types of capacitors. They are composed of two aluminum electrodes immersed in an electrolyte, separated by a thin oxide film. AECs are effective at filtering out high-frequency signals and are incredibly reliable.

The TVX1C102MCD is a type of aluminum electrolytic capacitor. It is a long life, low ESR (Equivalent Series Resistance) capacitor that has a temperature range between -55°C and 105°C. It has a maximum ripple current of 25 mA, and can handle up to 100 VRMS (Voltage Rating Maximum Surge) or 35 VDC (Voltage Direct Current).

When a voltage is applied, an electric field builds up within the oxide layer, forcing it to act as an insulator. As charge accumulates the oxide layer becomes thicker, increasing the capacitance until the capacitor is fully charged. When the voltage is removed, the reverse process occurs and the charge is discharged.
