The UCC3626PWTRG4 device is a Programmable Motor Control (PMIC) designed for efficient operation of three-phase motors. It is a part of the\'Smart Driver\' family of programmable motor control devices from Texas Instruments (TI). The UCC3626PWTRG4 device, like other members of the family, provides a full range of features and functionalities for controlling three-phase motors, including adjustable current limit, PWM frequency, current regulation, under-voltage lockout (UVLO), and over-temperature protection. As a single integrated circuit, the UCC3626PWTRG4 reduces design complexity, minimizes system cost, and simplifies board layout.The UCC3626PWTRG4 is ideal for controlling variable speed synchronous and asynchronous motors used in a variety of industrial and commercial applications. These applications include fans, blowers, pumps, compressors, and other motor-driven systems. It is available in die and QFN or SOIC packages and is suitable for operation over the −40 °C to +125 °C junction temperature range.

The UCC3626PWTRG4 is designed to provide highly efficient control for three-phase brushless motors. It works by regulating the current flow through the motor. This is done by monitoring the variation in the back-electromotive force (EMF) of the motor winding. It then adjusts the voltage applied to the motor terminals to maintain the desired speed and current level. The device is capable of controlling motors up to 15A peak.The UCC3626PWTRG4 provides adjustable output current limits, anti-cross current protection, adjustable PWM frequency (up to 48 kHz), and over-temperature protection. The device also includes fault protection such as under-voltage lockout (UVLO), over-temperature shutdown (OTSD), and output current limit. The device allows for the use of 2x and 3x of the supply voltage and has a built-in synchronous rectification feature for improved efficiency.The UCC3626PWTRG4 provides flexible on-chip interface circuitry for the power stage including: a phase comparator, a phase current amplifier, a tachometer comparator, a PWM comparator, a temperature sensor, and a voltage pre-regulator. It also includes a low-dropout linear regulator to support external input voltage range of 4.5 to 18 V.To determine speed and current control, a user-programmable gain is used in the phase comparator to enhance dynamic response. It also supports braked operation, while regulating motor voltage under variable load conditions.

In addition to its motor control capabilities, the UCC3626PWTRG4 device also includes integrated diagnostics and status information. This includes temperature sensor, PWM signal, voltage signal, and current feedback signals. The integrated diagnostics allow for precise monitoring of the motor characteristics and its operating conditions.
