The UCX1E182MNQ1MS is an aluminum electrolytic capacitor designed for use in high frequency switching power supplies, as well as snubbers, decoupling, DC-DC converters and other applications requiring high ripple currents. It offers a high voltage rating, low equivalent series resistance and low equivalent series inductance which make it suitable for high frequency applications.

The UCX1E182MNQ1MS consists of two layers of aluminum foil separated by an electrolyte. One of the aluminum electrodes is the anode while the other acts as the cathode. The anode is encased in a cylindrical can filled with an electrolyte which then acts as the dielectric material. The dielectric material is an insulating material that prevents flow of current between the two electrodes. It is also responsible for the capacitive property of the capacitor.

The working principle of an aluminum electrolytic capacitor is based on the fact that when an electric potential difference is applied to the two electrodes, it causes a current to flow from the positive electrode to the negative electrode. This current causes a charge to accumulate on the electrodes and creates a capacitance.
