They have relatively lower capacity than double-layer capacitors but higher capacity than film capacitors. A common application of aluminum electrolytic capacitors is in power supplies or in frequency-dependent filters.The design of aluminum electrolytic capacitors is based on the double-layer capacitance, also known as the electric double layer. This implies that the capacitor has two capacitance that are formed due to an interaction between two layers of electrical charge: one is a positive charge at the anode side of the capacitor and the other is a negative charge at the cathode side.
