Working Principle:

An aluminum electrolytic capacitor is an electrochemical component that is made from two aluminum foil electrodes. One of the aluminum foil electrodes is formed into a roll and is called the anode. The other aluminum foil electrode is coated with an insulating oxide film called a dielectric. A liquid electrolyte surrounds the anode and the dielectric layer. When a voltage is applied across the aluminum foil electrodes, the liquid electrolyte helps to form a very thin capacitive layer with a very high capacitance. This very thin capacitive layer provides very low resistance and excellent stability of the aluminum electrolytic capacitor.

The working principle of a UL1H220MDD aluminum electrolytic capacitor is the same as that of other aluminum electrolytic capacitors. When a voltage is applied across the aluminum foil electrodes, electrical charge is stored on the oxide film. As the voltage is increased, this charge accumulates and builds up to a higher voltage than the applied voltage. The size of the capacitance and the voltage rating of the capacitors are proportional to the amount of voltage stored on the oxide film.

Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are widely used in many commercial and consumer applications due to their high ripple current ratings, excellent reliability, wide range of values and ratings, and low cost.
