Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors

Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are major components used in various electronic devices used in electronics engineers and product designers. Aluminum electrolytic capacitors comprise a dielectric layer composed of liquids, gels or solid layers of conductive aluminum oxide, a metallic plate and a conductive backing. They are commonly used for applications that involve power electronics such as power supplies, audio and video devices, PCs and laptops.

UVY2G3R3MPD Application Field and Working Principle

The UVY2G3R3MPD aluminum electrolytic capacitor is a low-noise, surface mountable, high-performance device for use in capacitive sensing and power processing applications. It is designed for applications where high-frequency response, low-ripple current, and a high ripple-dissipating power output is required. The device construction consists of a case element that is filled with a conductive molecular film electrolyte, a plate of conductive aluminum oxide, and a standing metal back plate.

The electrolytic capacitors working principle is generally based on Faraday’s law of induction, which states the capacitance of an aluminum electrolytic device changes with the voltage applied to it. When a voltage is applied across the capacitor, a single-layer dielectric material is generated between the two plates. This dielectric material provides insulation between the plates and creates a space for the stored electric charge to be collected. This stored charge is then released when the voltage across the capacitor is reduced. Thus, the capacitor acts as a storage device for electric charge.

The capacitance of an aluminum electrolytic capacitor is mainly determined by the size and number of plates, the dielectric material, the size of the dielectric material and the amount of charge held by the plates. Generally, the capacitance of an aluminum electrolytic capacitor is higher than that of other types of capacitors due to its high dielectric constant. Due to its high capacitance, aluminum electrolytic capacitors are widely used in applications such as power supplies, audio/video electronics, medical instruments and automotive electronics.
