When a voltage potential is applied across the plates, electrolyte ions accelerate from one plate to the other resulting in a capacitance between the two plates. This capacitance is called the "electrode capacitance".The UWT1E220MCL1GB aluminum electrolytic capacitor consists of two aluminum foil plates, an electrolyte layer and a dielectric layer. The anode is the positive foil plate while the cathode is the negative foil plate. The electrolyte used in the UWT1E220MCL1GB capacitor is a borax solution. The dielectric layer of the UWT1E220MCL1GB is a film or a gel that acts as an insulator. It prevents electrons from flowing directly between the plates while at the same time allowing ions to move between the plates, resulting in a capacitance change. The dielectric layer also acts as an oxidation layer, preventing the aluminum from corroding.
