Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are a type of electrochemical capacitor with an anode that is made out of a pure aluminum foil with an etched surface. It has an oxide layer electrolyte, usually of an organic solvent, covering the etched surface. Its cathode is generally defined by a printed circuit board onto which it is soldered.
