The device is offered in surface mount, mini-DIP or SOIC (Surface-Mounted Plastic Leaded) formats and is capable of dissipating up to 2.4 joules of energy.The V240RA22 is designed to protect sensitive circuits against transient overloads with breakdown voltage of 18-24V, clamping voltage of 33-45V, and peak pulse power of 0.6W. This TVS is constructed from silicon wafers and uses two N-type junctions optically isolated in a single monolithic structure. The main purpose of V240RA22 is to provide high-speed surge protection for applications including telecommunications, consumer electronics, computers, military and industrial applications.The V240RA22 is designed to conduct large currents during short-term high-intensity electrical surge events but blocks DC current when its voltage limit is exceeded. To do so, it operates in the breakdown region, which is the P-N junction’s dynamic characteristics. As the P-N junction’s voltage exceeds the threshold, the depletion region’s width increases and large current flows through the device. The device will remain in the breakdown region until the voltage returns to the normal range.The device also features a low capacitance of ~254pF and ultra-low leakage current of ~5µA. This enables V240RA22 to respond quickly to transient surges with fast turn-on time and high-current sharing capability. Additionally, since the device is offered in an ultra-compact package design, it can easily fit into a wide range of applications where space is limited.The V240RA22, with its superior surge protection, low capacitance and fast response time, is perfect for applications that require surge protection power of up to 0.6W. It is also suitable for applications with tight board space considerations as it can fit into almost any size board or package design. In addition, the V240RA22 is RoHS compliant and compatible with lead-free reflow processes, making it an ideal choice for industrial and commercial applications.
