This is accomplished by a two stage process in which the first stage consists of an unregulated DC-DC conversion from the rectifier stage, and the second stage consists of a regulated regulated power conversion stage. The first stage of the VI-BT1-IW-S involves a switching frequency from 18Khz to hundreds of Khz, which increases the input voltage from 8Vdc to the desired output voltage. This process utilizes an inductor and capacitor, in order to provide the current and voltage required to achieve the desired output voltage.The second stage of the VI-BT1-IW-S is one of regulated power conversion. This stage involves the use of high frequency PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) signals in order to control the output voltage and current. Here, current control is employed by sensing the output of a shunt resistor, while voltage control is employed by a comparator circuit. When the output voltage reaches the predetermined set-point, the relative duty cycle of the PWM waveform then changes, in order to regulate the output voltage and current.In summary, the VI-BT1-IW-S are DC-DC converters that offer a variety of features for use in a variety of applications.
