VTD48EF160T015A00 is a power module developed for the evaluation of the electrical properties of the board and is used for the evaluation of DC/DC & AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPS. This allows for very high levels of efficiency, typically up to 92%. The device employs an internal MOSFET which is controlled by a low power control circuit. The MOSFET is then controlled by an adjustable peak current limiting circuit, a sense resistor and soft start circuitry.The main components of the device are the transformer, MOSFET, control and feedback circuitry. The transformer converts the incoming AC mains voltage to the desired output voltage which is then rectified, filtered and regulated by the MOSFET and associated control circuitry. The feedback circuitry is used to adjust the output voltage in order to maintain a constant voltage. A sense resistor is used to measure the current in the MOSFET which is then used to control the phase of the MOSFET and regulate the current. This ensures that the MOSFET is never overworked and maintains very high levels of efficiency.The device is also equipped with overvoltage protection and over temperature protection to ensure that the device does not get damaged under extreme conditions. The device is designed to operate reliably in temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. The maximum operating frequency of 500kHz ensures efficient operation at lower power levels and also allows for fast response time.
