Delay Lines

Delay lines are devices designed to provide a delay of a particular signal characteristic or waveform over a limited range of frequencies. Common delay lines such as XDL09-9-224S are linear delay devices that use a combination of capacitors, resistors, and inductors to create a delay equal to the time it takes along the propagation line. For example, at frequencies below the frequency of the resistor load, the amplitude of the wave is decreased, creating a “notch.” At higher frequencies, the resistor loads don’t reduce the amplitude of the wave, allowing a much higher amplitude. This allows for precise control and manipulation of the signal.
