Single Board Computers (SBCs)
A single board computer (SBC) is the technological embodiment of a single board, or a board that contains all of the circuitry required for a computer. The board typically holds the processor, RAM, power supply, data storage, and I/O peripherals in a single package. An SBC can be anything from a small electronic device, to an integrated circuit or a microcontroller. Although the actual form factor of an SBC can vary, they are generally able to be integrated into a larger system to create an entire system as a unit.
WB-IMX6U-BW is an Arm-based single board computer from WUCYRUS-Systems. It boasts a Cortex-A9 processing core, up to 1GB DDR3 RAM, up to 8GB eMMC Flash, dual Ethernet ports, 2x USB Host ports, and a variety of I/O expansion connectors. WB-IMX6U-BW has excellent performance and power efficiency, and is widely used in point-of-sale (POS) devices, industrial control systems, retail kiosks, embedded devices, and robotics.

Working Principle
The Central Processing Unit (CPU) of the WB-IMX6U-BW is a high-speed Cortex-A9 MPCore processor, which is used to manage the operations of the board. The processor core is the heart of the board’s semiconductor programmable logic and manages all the operations. The processor core communicates through the AMBA (Advanced Microcontroller Bus Architecture) to access any peripheral, including flash memory, RAM, LCD display, storage devices, audio devices, timers, real-time clock, Ethernet, USB, serial, CAN, CAN bus, and others.
The board has two Ethernet ports to connect the board to the internet. It also has 2x USB Host ports for connecting peripheral devices. Moreover, various expansion connectors are provided to access additional peripherals and external I/O devices. All of the peripherals are connected to the processor core through the AMBA bus, and the encoded commands are sent by the core to the memory and peripherals to execute the instruction.
WB-IMX6U-BW also supports numerous software features such as JTAG Debugger, Ethernet Bootloader, FlexSPI NAND Flash programming, Code Flash programming and a range of protocol protocols such as CAN, Modbus, I2C, UART, Serial. It also contains an encryption engine, an integrated debugger, and a number of options for programming and debugging.
