DWM1001-DEV

The DWM1001-DEV wireless module is a type of RF evaluation and development board powered by DW1000, a 2.4 GHz IEEE 802.15.4-2011 single chip UWB transceiver, which is targeting low-power wireless applications such as location awareness, asset tracking, retail beaconing and home monitoring.

The DWM1001-DEV features a DWM1001-DEV SIP module, an external computer interface, a regulated power supply, and two user LEDs. The SIP module is a complete RF system-on-chip solution based on the DW1000 transceiver. The external computer interface includes two 10-pin ports for connecting the base station to a host computer or a PC for debugging and programming. The regulated supply provides power to the base station and its peripherals while two user LEDs provide visual indicators of their current state.

The working principle of the DWM1001-DEV is based on the principle of Time of Flight (ToF). The range and bearing of the device are measured based on the time difference between two consecutive packets, and the range and bearing of the device can be accurately estimated.

The ultra-wide bandwidth (UWB) of the DW1000 radio provides ultra-high range accuracy which is suitable for precise location detection. The accuracy of the DWM1001-DEV is within 10 cm, and its range can be extended up to 1 km with better receiver sensitivity.
