DC DC Converters

The VI-261-EU is a DC-DC converter that is used primarily for converting an unregulated DC voltage of 6-36V to a regulated DC voltage of 12-48V(adjustable) for various electrical and electronic applications. It features a wide range of protection such as over voltage protection(OVP) and short circuit protection(SCP). This device has an input voltage range of 6-36V and an output voltage range of 12-48V(adjustable). The device uses a multi-phase buck-boost (MPBB) topology with input voltage regulation up to 36V and Constant ON-Time (COT) control. Its structure is built using two stages, a MPBB circuit and a post regulator circuit. The MPBB stage is used to boost or buck the input voltage to the needed regulated output voltage. Then, the post regulator circuit is used to precisely regulate the output voltage by controlling the output switch-on and -off timing according to the control voltage. The key components of this device are two MOSFETs, the primary side MOSFET and the secondary side MOSFET. The primary side MOSFET contains all the control circuitry(including the multi-phase control circuit and protection circuits) and is connected to the input voltage source. The secondary side MOSFET is used to regulate the output voltage and is connected to the output load. The output voltage is determined by the duty cycle of the primary side MOSFET.
