AL8807W5-7 Integrated Circuits (ICs)

The AL8807W5-7 is an advanced device for driving LEDs with low power dissipation and low torque ripple. It is designed using an economical and robust adaptive approach to minimize power dissipation and increase efficiency of LEDs. The AL8807W5-7 utilizes a switching power stage, an AC phase-shift control, and software configurable digital dimming, making it suitable for high power LED lighting applications. It is specifically designed to drive up to 7 LEDs with constant current and has many features including constant current, constant voltage, open/short LED protection, power failure protection, and soft start.

The AL8807W5-7 primarily provides adjustable DC power output and can drive up to 7 LEDs with constant current. It is equipped with two internal clock sources, a digital logic control and a PWM signal input. This allows for precise control of the output current to each of the LEDs connected. In addition to the adjustable output for each channel, the AL8807W5-7 also provides a soft-start feature to minimize inrush current. This ensures that there is no sudden voltage rise when the LEDs are turned on, which is important to avoid any damage to the LEDs.

The AL8807W5-7 is designed to operate from a DC voltage supply and has an adjustable output voltage range of 2.8 V to 24 V. The output current for each LED is set using an external resistor and can be adjusted from 0 to 20mA using a 0.5% accuracy current programmer circuit. The chip also features an over-current and short circuit protection to protect the LEDs from overloads, as well as a thermal overload protection which will reduce the current output in the event of an over-temperature condition.

The AL8807W5-7 is well suited for controlling LEDs in devices such as night-vision cameras, automotive headlamps, medical and industrial lighting, and general purpose lighting applications. This device is optimized for high power applications, yet it is still able to maintain a very low power dissipation. It is also designed to conserve energy by using an efficient switching method to reduce current ripple.
