No matter which type of relay socket is used, the principle of operation remains the same. A control current is applied to one of the relay’s contacts, which then causes a switch to open or close. This switch then causes a relay coil to move, completing or breaking the circuit. Relays can be configured to act as either switches or amplifiers, depending on the application. Relays are also used for electromechanical signal conditioning, including on/off control, surge and noise suppression, and current sensing.

Relay sockets can be used for a variety of applications, including switching, control, sensing, and signaling. The choice of sockets depends on the application, as each type of socket provides a different level of control and reliability. Whichever type of socket is used, it should comply with safety and industry standards and be rated for the appropriate current and voltage.
