Rectangular connectors, more commonly referred to as Headers, Male Pins, are used to connect two or more components in a machine or other device. The working principle of the rectangular connector is relatively straightforward. The contact pins on the male header connector are inserted into female connectors and connected by either soldering or crimping methods. Once fitted, the contact pins form an electrical connection with each other. This connection is the same width and height across each contact pin and is designed to ensure a secure and reliable connection that will resist corrosion, vibration, and temperature variations. Rectangular connectors offer a much higher degree of flexibility than traditional connectors, due to their ability to be connected in a multitude of configurations and used in various types of circuitry. Another advantage to this type of connector is its ability to be easily replaced when needed, meaning that there is no need to replace the whole circuit. Despite the advantages of the rectangular connector, it is not without its own disadvantages. If the pins are not correctly aligned or inserted too far, this can result in an incorrect or incomplete connection. This means the connector will not work properly or will not provide the desired level of protection and performance. Additionally, the insertion of the pins can be time consuming and failure to adequately secure the pins can result in unreliable connections, meaning that the circuit may be rendered ineffective. In conclusion, rectangular connectors are widely used in the industrial automation, robotics, medical, security and other fields. This type of connector’s contacting parts have a reliable connection, and its various configurations are conducive for connection between two boards or circuits. However, in order to achieve the best performance, the insertion and alignment of the pins must be done correctly and secured adequately.
