TVS - Varistors, MOVs are two of the most commonly used surge protection products in the power supply system. The two are often used in combination to provide more reliable surge protection for the system.TVS stands for Transient Voltage Suppressors. It is a unidirectional three-terminal semiconductor device, and its function is to constrain and protect the system from large transients. TVS devices protect the system from surges caused by electrostatic discharge (ESD) and lightning. TVS devices are composed of two parts, a diode and a resistor or semiconductor structure. In addition, TVS devices can also act as an isolator and limit the voltage spike. The working principle of the TVS device is that when the voltage of the protected system exceeds the threshold, the voltage-limiting element that can exceed the current limit will start to work and quickly limit the voltage, thus protecting the system. MOV stands for Metal Oxide Varistor. They are non-linear voltage devices and are widely used in power supply systems to protect them from damaging transient voltage surges. MOVs are composed of metal oxide particles sitting between two electrodes and connected to each other. The working principle of MOVs is that when an excessive surge voltage is applied to the terminals, the MOV conducts current to the ground and limits the voltage to the protected device.

The 0070.1181.T2 is a unidirectional highly integrated transient voltage suppressor(TVS). It offers a wide range of low-voltage protection requirements and provides superior performance over cheaper MOVs. It is mainly applied in communication technology, data line transmission, battery-powered mobile devices, automotive electronics and various consumer electronic products.The 0070.1181.T2 is a transgenic transient suppressor that utilizes both a diode and a resistor element to control or limit the voltage spike of two-terminal lines, such as those found in data transmission systems. It is a special design which can replace the existing Ceramic Chip Varistors (CCVs).This device has an internal transient suppression structure that limits the voltage to levels more suitable for modern ICs and ensures that they are operating correctly. The 0070.1181.T2 has wide mechanical tolerances for robust protection against surges. It is a uni-directional TVS device adoptingsilicon avalanche diode and ultra-low resistance resistor network, which can protect voltage surges of up to 0.5J, 20A and 300W in a wide range.

The main working principle of this device is that it redirects the surge current away from the sensitive load to ground under the overvoltage condition, mainly through the ultra-low resistance network and silicon avalanche diode. The ultra-low resistance network will absorb a certain amount of energy issues during surge protection. Under the abnormal voltage surge, the silicon avalanche diode of this device works as the impulse current clamp, which can protect the system from consuming excessive amounts of electricity.Resumely, the 0070.1181.T2 is a unidirectional highly integrated transient voltage suppressor(TVS).
