Working Principle

Flat Flex and Ribbon Jumper Cables utilize a series of rigid, flexible interconnect connections. The flexible interconnect connections allow for flexibility and reduced size, which can make them ideal for tight spaces. In general, the interconnect is formed from an insulating material such as polyimide, polycarbonate, or other similar materials. This insulating material supports the connection between different wires, providing electrical insulation to prevent electrical shorts. The insulation material also provides a strength stabilizer, reducing cable fatigue and ensuring the cable will stay rigid and rigidly connected.

The cable can also be reinforced with a metallic core, which increases the cable’s rigidity and restores its flexibility. This metallic core is used to keep the cable in shape when bent or twisted. Once the cables are connected, they are secured with heat shrink or other types of secure latching systems.
