Flat Flex cables (FFC) are thin insulated electrical cables with contacts on one or both sides of their body and used for applications in which flexibility, space and weight saving are essential. The most common use of FFC cables is in the field of computers and connectors where a compact, lightweight connection system is needed. The ribbon connectors are usually made of stainless steel, copper or plated copper. They are usually found in laptop computers, printers, digital cameras and cell phones, to name but a few.

Flat flex cables have the flexibility to bend, twist, and curl around tight corners in small spaces, which makes them ideal for applications where space and weight are a concern. Additionally, their thin form factor makes them easy to incorporate into circuit boards or other connectors, greatly reducing the amount of space consumed by a typical cable or wire.
