Flat Flexible Connectors (FFC/FPC) are commonly used in the electronics industry for connecting two or more circuit boards together. They are most commonly used in the automotive, aviation, medical, consumer electronics, industrial and military markets.FFC/FPC connectors typically consist of two flat connector strips with contacts, either male or female, to be placed in the connector receptacles. The contacts are held in place with a cover or terminal block. These connectors provide low contact insertion forces which make them popular for high contact density applications.The applications typically associated with FFC/FPC connectors encompass those where physical or electrical consistency is paramount. FFC/FPC connectors are used in motion control, backplane and memory systems, board-to-cable and board-to-board systems, sensors and switches, and other industrial control systems.FFC/FPC connectors are gaining popularity due to their low insertion and extraction forces, and their ability to be blind-mated.
