0902 292 Application Field and Working Principle

The 0902 292 series single-pole earth leakage circuit breakers (hereinafter referred to as 0902 circuit breakers) are designed for operation in small AC networks, typically in the residential or commercial domains. They are suitable for protecting against short-circuits, overloads, earth leakage current and other related electrical problems. The 0902 circuit breaker is a particular kind of earth leakage breaker, which is capable of providing protection, fault finding and monitoring in single phase systems.

The 0902 circuit breaker contains a pressure switch sensor, a voltage transformer and a shut-off mechanism. The pressure switch senses the drop in pressure between the inlet and outlet of the circuit breaker; when this is interpreted as a fault, the system will immediately shut off, isolating the circuit and ensuring safety. This pressure difference can be either positive or negative, depending on the typology of the fault.

The 0902 series also includes a voltage transformer, which is a component responsible for the measurement of the voltage in the system. The transformer produces a low voltage which is proportional to the voltage in the system, and this is then compared with a limit value preset for protection. If it exceeds the preset limit value in the transformer, then a trip is initiated, which opens the circuit and disconnects it from the mains.

Another feature of the 0902 circuit breaker is the operation of a fault locator or "find fault" system. This system is designed to establish the cause of the fault and identify which of the circuit elements is involved. This fault locator consists of a lockout system which will open the circuit breaker in the event of a fault, as well as a test button to locally perform fault diagnostics.

The 0902 circuit breakers are typically implemented in single phase AC networks, operating at a nominal voltage of 230 V, 50 Hz. They can be used both indoors and outdoors and are intended to protect the installations against overloads, short-circuits, earth leakage currents, amongst other related problems. The 0902 can also be connected to an external detector so that it can be used as an external device for the detection of earth leakage currents, as well as for remote monitoring of the system.

The 0902 circuit breaker is considered a reliable and robust protection and monitoring device for single phase systems, providing high levels of safety and comfort. Its specifications, such as the operating temperature range, maximum displacement current and setting voltage are all compliant with international standards, making it a suitable option for a wide range of residential and commercial single phase systems.
