Strictly speaking, the DIN 41612 backplane connector stands for a couple of connectors, or a pair of connector sets, linking two printed circuit boards (PCBs). DIN 41612 connector is the most popular type in the application of backplanes connectors, which is used to plug into a mother/daughter board in a variety of PC systems such as laptop, computer, printer, and power supply system. Also, the backplane connector is quite widely applied in the process of telecom and industrial automation.
The primary function of a DIN 41612 Backplane Connector is used to link two PCBs together. It primarily lands multiple conductors and provides physical connection as well as electrical insulation between two PCBs. For this end, the DIN 41612 backplane connector includes two connector halves with a certain number of pins, which are only plugged in one direction. It is also a common custom that one connector half one board and another complete one in the other side. In addition, one end of every conductor is assembled in one connector of the pair, while another end is to be coupled in the other side to connect. Generally, a DIN 41612 backplane connector features two rows of mating interface to settle multiple conductors in between the two sides.

Besides, the available design of the contact with cable allows transmission according to the single-ended data and later, a reliable shielding braid will be added to guarantee the data rate.
