The 1-146762-6 consists of two symmetrical double-row dual-row socket connectors which are divided into the plug and the socket. The plug has two polarizing faces. The middle two-way part of the socket connector is equipped with two polarizing faces which correspond to the plug connector. The plug connector is inserted into the corresponding socket connector which will polarization and align firmly with each other. One of the polarizing faces is a triangular shape while the other is a dovetail shape. The two polarizing faces pair of the plug and socket connector assures a precise position of both connectors when they are connected.

When the plugs and sockets are connected, the electrical connections are made by working principle of contact pressure and electric conduction. It has two rows of sockets with ten pins in each row.
