USB Connectors

USB (Universal Serial Bus) is an industry standard defining the cables, connectors and protocols used in a bus for connection, communication and power supply between computers and electronic devices. The USB connector provides easy plug-and-play connectivity for devices such as digital cameras, printers, and external hard disks.

Type A Connector

The Type A connector (also known as the USB Standard A connector) is the flat, rectangular USB connector that is used on the host side of the USB connection. It is the widest and most commonly used USB connector.

Type B Connector

The Type B connector (also referred to as a USB Standard B connector) is the square-shaped USB connector that is used on the device side of the USB connection. It weighs more than the Type A connector and also has different pins for different functions.

Mini-USB Connectors

Mini USB connectors (sometimes referred to as “mini-B”) are miniature versions of standard Type B USB connectors. Mini-B connectors are used on many small electronic devices such as digital cameras, mobile phones, and MP3 players.

DVI Connectors

DVI (Digital Video Interface) is a computer video display standard that was developed by the Digital Display Working Group (DDWG) and was first introduced in 1999. It is used to connect personal computers to digital displays such as LCD and plasma screens.

Single Link

The Single Link DVI connector is the most commonly used type of DVI connector. Single Link connectors support resolutions up to 1440 x 900, and they are typically used with DVI-D (digital) and DVI-I (Integrated), the two types of DVI interface.

Dual Link

Dual Link DVI connectors are used for higher display resolutions, such as WQXGA (2560 x 1600) and higher. They are typically used with DVI-D (digital) and DVI-I (Integrated), the two types of DVI interface.

HDMI Connectors

HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is an all-in-one audio/video connection that was introduced in 2003. It is used to transmit digital signals from DVD players, gaming consoles, digital cable boxes, and satellite receivers. HDMI connectors are usually available in three sizes: Standard (also called Type A), Mini (also called Type C) and Micro (also called Type D).

Standard HDMI Connector

The Standard HDMI connector, also referred to as a Type A connector, is the most common HDMI connector and is used in everyday home electronics such as DVD players and televisions. It is rectangular in shape with 19 pins and an overall length of just over 1.5 inches.

Mini HDMI Connector

The Mini HDMI connector, also referred to as a Type C connector, is a scaled-down version of the Standard HDMI connector. It is rectangular in shape and has 19 pins, but its overall length is much shorter than that of the Standard HDMI connector. It is commonly used in digital cameras and other small electronic devices.

Micro HDMI Connector

The Micro HDMI connector, also referred to as a Type D connector, is the smallest of the HDMI connectors. It is a scaled-down version of the Mini HDMI connector and has 19 pins, but its overall length is much shorter than that of the Standard HDMI connector and even the Mini HDMI connector. It is often used in smartphones and tablets.
