1108529-3 Application Field and Working Principle

The 1108529-3 heavy duty connector (HDC) from METZ CONNECT is ideal for use in high current, harsh environments, and is suitable for applications in the automotive industry as well as industrial machines and equipment. This insert module features a male-to-female design with two different size inserts, that support a wide range of wire gauges.

The HDC supports both automotive and off-highway applications including battery cells and lighting circuits. It can also be used in industrial equipment such as test & control systems, conveyor systems, and manufacturing machines.

The HDC uses an arc-resistant design which is rated for IP67 applications and offers excellent power delivery and reliability. The two different sizes provide a secure connection for many different wire gauge sizes between 12-20 AWG.

The 1108529-3 is equipped with two different locking systems, an internal twist-lock design that grasps onto the external jacket of the wire, and an external locking mechanism which offers additional support.

The HDC has a simple design consisting of two plastic housings that are filled with contact pins and screwed together with a torque-controlled process. This ensures consistent and reliable connections with each module. The contact pins are also rated for a high current capacity of up to 10 amps, and can be ordered with optional gold plating for additional corrosion resistance.

The 1108529-3 HDC is available in two different sizes, the HDC-4P and HDC-6P. The HDC-4P features a 1/2” Dia. and the HDC-6P has a 3/4” Dia. Both sizes are designed for use with up to 10 AWG wire.
