Fixed Inductors are electronic components that store energy in the form of a magnetic field. These components are composed of two leads made of copper wrapped around a ferromagnetic core. The English designation for a 1330-78G Fixed Inductor is a dual-winding inductor. This dual-winding describes its two coils of copper wire that form the inductive component. Electromagnetic induction is the process of generating an electromotive force (EMF) within a conductor when placed in a changing magnetic field. This law states that the induced EMF in the conductor is proportional to the rate of change of the magnetic field flux. When a increasing or decreasing current is applied to the coil of wire around the magnetic core of an inductor, an electromotive force is generated in proportion to the rate of change of the current. This EMF pushes back or opposes the current as it tries to change, this is known as a back EMF. The magnitude of the back EMF depends on the physical size of the inductor and the current through it. Fixed Inductors such as the 1330-78G are used in many circuits to regulate current. During positive current flow, the inductor acts as a short circuit and limits the rate of current rise. During negative current flow, theinductor behaves as an open circuit and thus limits the rate of current decrease. By utilizing this basic principle, a wide variety of applications such as step-down power supplies, DC-DC converters, filtering circuits and voltage regulators can be designed using the 1330-78G.The 1330-78G Fixed Inductor is also capable of smooth power transfers during current fluctuations. This is accomplished by high rate of inductance generated by the induction coil. When AC current flows through the windings of the inductor, a sinusoidal voltage is induced in the circuit. This voltage converts the direct current to alternating current, and by changing the frequency of the current, the amount of power transferred can be regulated.Fixed Inductors such as the 1330-78G are widely used in power applications due to their efficiency, wide range of values, and dependable performance. By utilizing the Faraday’s law of induction the 1330-78G can provide high efficiency in storing and transferring energy between two circuits.
