There are three types of Heavy Duty Connectors, each with a distinct purpose: - Housings: The metal case that encloses the terminal and electrical contacts of a connector and enables the connection of multiple terminals.

- Bases: A part comprised of a base and treaded inserts which mount on a panel or frame in order enable the connection of multiple electrical contacts.
The mounting quality and electrical performance of Heavy Duty Connectors are determined by the configuration and design, as well as the materials used. Typically, stainless steel is used for the body material in order to provide maximum strength, corrosion resistance, and temperature stability, while gold or nickel is used for the contact material to ensure good contact resistance and current carrying capacity. The connecting pins used for Heavy Duty Connectors are designed to allow for a tight connection without damaging the pins or nearby components, and the seals also provide a dust and fluid-tight connection.
