USB Connectors

Universal Serial Bus (USB) connectors are the most commonly found type of connection in the computing world. USB enables the connection of many supplementary devices to the computer, such as keyboards, mice, game controllers, digital cameras, and external storage devices. USB connectors have grown increasingly popular due to the sheer number of devices that are compatible with them.

A USB connector consists of two identical ends in order to connect it to another USB cable. One end will plug into the device that the user wishes to connect to the computer, while the other end will connect to a port directly on the computer. A majority of desktops and laptops will have USB ports located on the back and sides of the computer, while most tablets feature ports on the side.

DVI Connectors

Digital Visual Interface (DVI) connectors are used to connect graphical output devices, such as monitors and projectors, to a computer. DVI is the most popular type of connection used when connecting multiple monitors or projectors to a graphics card. DVI is also quite popular for connecting DVD players to larger display devices such as televisions.

A DVI connector comes in a range of sizes, depending on the type of connection being made. Depending on the type of graphics card inside the computer, it is possible to have Dual Link and Single Link DVI ports available. Dual Link Cables provide extended resolutions and refresh rates, while Single Link Cables are more suitable for basic resolutions.

HDMI Connectors

High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) is the most commonly used type of cable for connecting various display devices to a computer. HDMI can transmit digital video and audio signals from a computer to a display device such as a television or projector. HDMI is capable of handling resolutions up to 4K quality.

HDMI connectors feature a single cable with two ends, which is capable of transferring audio and video signals simultaneously. HDMI cables can be used for laptops and desktop computers as well as other devices such as video game consoles, digital cameras, and Blu-Ray players.
