Construction

The 170002-2 terminal is made up of two main parts, the barrel (connector) and the bullet connector. The barrel is usually made of metal or plastic and forms the core of the terminal assembly. It has a hollow centre (accepting the wire) and two outwardly projecting tongues (internal tabs) that mate into the corresponding slots within the barrel. The bullet connector is the physical connection point between two separate electrical components. It is usually fabricated from plastic or metal, and has two corresponding slots for mating the tongues of the barrel.

Function

In order to correctly use the 170002-2 terminal, the appropriate wire strands must first be stripped from each end of the conductor. The connector should then be inserted into the end of the stripped wire and secured in place. The barrel and bullet connectors are then mated together using force and/or a screwdriver to ensure a secure connection. Once the connection is made, the device can be tested to ensure proper electrical contact is achieved.
