 170M5615 Application Field and Working Principle

The 170M5615 is a specialty fuse intended for use in a DC power circuit, such as automotive, industrial machinery, and military/aerospace applications. It has been designed for use in a variety of engineering applications, including energy and safety systems, electronic circuits, and electrical device protection. Its features include high frequency operation, UL and CSA ratings, and temperature stability for reliable protection across a wide temperature range.

This fuse has an interrupting capacity of 8KA and exhibits high current-limiting capabilities for high fault currents. It provides excellent protection against circuit short ciruits and contains extreme heat-hazing abilities to limit the damage of current overloads. Its contact arrangement is such that it delivers reliable sparking and contact surfaces contact protection, as well as provides reliable operation in all conditions. The fuse is designed for low arc-energy operation for the high current density or high current faults over its lifetime.

In operation, the fuse is placed in-line within a circuit to provide a reliable circuit protection against current overloads. The fuse trips when the current magnitude exceeds the set trip current rating or its melting/ threading time. The meltable portion of the fuse link is heated and vaporised, thereby interrupting the current. After the fuse has tripped, the current is re-established once the melted link has cooled down and the fuse can be safely removed and replaced.

The fuse is designed to operate with a voltage limit up to 600V and a current limit up to 30Amps. It can be used in applications with a wide range of temperatures, from a minimum of -40°C to a maximum of +120°C. The typical melting time of the fuse is 1-2 seconds. The fuse is UL-listed and CSA certified, making it suitable for use in both industrial and consumer applications.
