<html><h3>170M7500 Application Field and Working Principle</h3><p>170M7500 are special purpose fuse links designed for the protection of semiconductor circuits particularly those used in high reliability fields such as Aerospace, Automotive, Industrial Control, Military and Medical. Derived from the initially designed Small Diameter FuseLinks, they are also known as Enhanced Technology Semiconductor FuseLinks, SC FuseLinks or Semiconductor Protectors.</p><p>The technology is based on a fast blow fuse link wound on a robust carrier with space formed between two parallel and electrically isolated copper conductors. The solid core of the carrier is constructed of a printed circuit board material, manufactured from fiber glass cloth and epoxy resin allowing for remarkable current carrying capabilities concurrent with low resistance and low voltage drop values. The top aluminium layer acts as an EMI shielding.</p><p>170M7500 FuseLinks are intended to open a circuit by melting of the fuse element (http://www.belfuse.com/en/products/fuses/170m7500.asp). They meet the requirements of EN601 056 and EN50016 standards.</p><h3>Working Principle</h3><p>The working principle of the 170M7500 fuse links is based on their unique construction. The fuse element consists of a spiral filament held in an epoxy package covered by an aluminium housing. The filament consists of a metal core coated with a mixture of nickel, potassium, and zinc. Under normal operation, the material acts as a resistor and carries the current, generating heat and dissipating it by convection.
