Crimpers

Crimpers are tools that join two pieces of metal, plastic, or other material together with an applied process by crimping. The process of crimping typically involves bending or deforming one of the objects to make it fit correctly, then applying a tool that holds the two ends in place and finishes the process by pressing the crimping tool against the joined surfaces. The most common type of crimper used in the manufacture of electronic components is the pin-in-hole type, which consists of a metal pin which is inserted into a hole and then crimped in place to create a secure connection. The crimper typically presses the pin into the hole with an adjustable force or pressure, depending on the size of the pin, the strength of the connection, and the type of material being used.

Applicators

Applicators, sometimes known as heat staking or swaging machines, are used for attaching items to a substrate. This process is used for attaching products such as rivets, pins, and connectors to substrates such as metal, plastic, and glass. Applicators consist of a heating element, which is used to melt the plastic item and a tool, which holds the item in place and assists with the application of the melted plastic. The heating element is usually a heated air source, such as a heated gas stove, an electrical heating element, or a combination of the two. After the item is melted, the applicator presses the item into contact with the substrate and allows it to cool which then forms a secure bond.

Presses

Presses are most often used in the manufacture of automotive components, metal furniture, and other items requiring a sturdy and reliable joint.
