Direct insertion is when an FFC/FPC connector is placed directly into the PCB with no additional wires. At the heart of the design is a plastic frame containing contact strips. The FFC/FPC is placed between the contacts and is maintained in place by a spring-lock mechanism. Pressure is then applied to the contact strips to ensure a secure connection.The number of contact strips varies per application, from as few as one, to as many as 200. Depending on the product’s requirements, contact strips may be either the same or different sizes, and can range from 0.2mm to 1.0 mm.
