Working Principle

As the current passing through the fuse exceeds the rated current of the fuse, the element inside the fuse melts, thus cutting off the current flow. The rated current of the fuse is equal to the highest current of the specified amperes it is designed to conduct throughout its life. The cut-off time of the fuse is usually in the range of 1 to 25ms.

The fuseholder has two metal contacts allowing the current to flow only when the fuse and its contacts are intact. When the fuse is broken, the two contacts are disconnected, thus preventing any current from passing through.
