The 22-43-6030 rectangular connector is a type of header connector, containing male pins. It is a four-row connector consisting of two shells, a locking mechanism, and a cable assembly. The two shells are named the plug shell and the receptacle shell, with the placement of the locking mechanism dependant upon the orientation of the connector. The shells are manufactured using thermoplastic polyamide (PA66GF25) rated up to UL94V-0, and feature a flat face, which is a feature which helps prevent shock and impact from nearby equipment.

The four-row connection is based on a grid system of 4.15mm (0.16in) centre-to-centre pins. This design is advantageous as it reduces ingress to the contact between the components, while providing the option for more pins which is suited to the diverse electrical connections. Male pins normally consist of tin-plated phosphor bronze contacts with a maximum current rating of 3A which is adequate for most applications.

The locking mechanism is composed of two parts: a clip retention force plate and a latchpiece. The clip retention force plate is located on the plug shell for cable mounted connectors, but can also be found on the receptacle shell for panel mounted connectors. There are three positioning holes for the latchpiece located on the perimeter of the clip retention force plate. The latchpiece is spring-loaded and must be depressed while moving it to unlock the connector. For cable mounted connectors, the latchpiece is a mechanism used to secure the cable strain relief to the plug shell. For panel mounted connectors, the latchpiece ensures that both shells are securely joined.

The 22-43-6030 rectangular connector is intended for use in automotive, aerospace, and marine applications requiring vibration resistance, and/or resistance to salt spray environments.
