The 24FC256-I/P is a serial, 256K-bit Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory (EEPROM) that is designed to use in memory applications such as data logging, data retention, non-volatile storage, portable battery-backed systems, and embedded control. It\'s usually used in measuring and control systems, security systems, medical instruments, measurement instruments, and embedded hardware systems. The 24FC256-I/P also provides a range of features that make it comfortable to use, from extended temperature storage ranges to security lock features -all loaded in a 10k-bit memory package.
The 24FC256-I/P is a Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) EEPROM that requires low operating voltages of 1.8V (Vcc1) and standard 2.5V-5.5V (Vcc2). This is suitable for applications whereby both input and output voltages must match and be correctly translated. The 24FC256-I/P can operate over temperatures ranging from -40°C to 85°C and is also write protected or write protected/resetable. The Power-on Reset (POR) feature ensures that data remains secure over power cycling.
The 24FC256-I/P supports data transfer rates up to 33 megabits per second. This allows for data to be read or written quickly, which is essential for applications requiring fast write cycles. Sleep and power-down modes are also provided to reduce power consumption. The sleep mode reduces current consumption to around 1µA and the power-down mode reduces power consumption to less than 1µA.
The 24FC256-I/P works on a three-wire interface, with data being transferred across an 8-bit data bus. The 24FC256-I/P uses 32-bytes of memory internally and these can be combined to form a wider memory address space. Memory is divided into 4K-byte blocks and protected individually with the Block Protection (BP) mode.
