PTC resettable fuses are an effective solution to repeatedly occurring overcurrent situations. Once the device cools, the device will reset, allowing the current to flow normally again.

The two most common types of PTC resettable fuses are 250R and 180MR. The 250R is designed for low voltage applications and is typically used in consumer electronics, power supplies, and motor control applications. The 180MR is designed for higher voltage applications and is typically used in automotive, telecom, and HVAC applications.

The 250R features a design which can act as an over-current protection device for low voltage AC/DC applications. Once the voltage has increased to a certain point, the device will trip, thus causing the current rating to drop and reduce the over-current in the circuit.

The two types of PTC resettable fuses are designed to provide electrical protection against over-currents, which can help prevent damage to electrical systems.
