Fixed inductors are electrical components used to inductively store energy in an electric circuit. They consist of two coils of wire, one primary and one secondary, wrapped around a core material. The inductor is connected in series or parallel to a source of electric current. Magnetic flux is generated when current passes through the primary coil, which is then picked up by the secondary coil. The flux induces an electromagnetic field which also flows through the secondary coil. This in turn induces a voltage in the secondary coil. The amount of voltage induced is dependent upon the magnitude of the flux, the number of turns in the secondary coil and the distance between the primary and secondary coils.

The 2534-30J is a specific type of fixed inductor manufactured by Coilcraft. The product is sealed in an epoxy-encapsulated potting that provides superior environmental protection and low profile mounting within standard electrolytic capacitors. The 2534-30J has a high current carrying capacity and is engineered to work up to 70°C in applications such as high frequency switching regulators, converters, audio and communication circuits.

The primary coil of the 2534-30J is made from nickel alloy wire, while the secondary coil and core are made from ferrite ceramic material. The ceramic core material is designed to act as a Faraday shield, blocking any noise produced by the device. The inductance of the 2534-30J is factory preset at 30μH ±20%, with an inductance tolerance of 7% at 1kHz, 0.1Vrms.

The working principle of the 2534-30J requires an alternating current (AC) to be applied to the primary coil. This produces a changing magnetic field which is picked up by the secondary coil. The magnitude of the induced voltage is dependent upon the magnitude of the flux, the number of turns in the secondary coil and the distance between the primary and secondary coils. The secondary voltage will always be proportional to the applied current. This is known as Faraday’s Law of Induction.

The 2534-30J is ideally suited for use in high-performance switching regulators, audio and communication circuits and a variety of other applications. It is engineered to perform up to 70°C and is sealed in an epoxy-encapsulated potting for superior environmental protection. The 2534-30J has a high current carrying capacity and is factory preset to 30μH ±20%.
