25AA256T-E/SM is a memory integrated circuit (IC), which is manufactured by the Microchip Technology Inc. The chip is a part of a family of similar devices, comprising the 25AA256X, 25AA128, 25AA64 and 25AA32.25AA256T-E/SM memory devices are capable of supporting 2-wire and 4-wire serial interfaces and feature an Integrated Low Voltage (1.8V to 5.5V) write operation with TTL compatible logic levels. The devices also feature high endurance with over 10,000 write cycles. Furthermore, the EEPROM devices feature a low active power operation mode.25AA256T-E/SM are commonly used in a variety of applications, including industrial control, medical devices, consumer products, communications, gaming, and security systems. They are highly reliable, easy to use and suitable for use in a variety of systems.The device consists of 256K-bit of memory, organized in 32 pages of 8K-bits. Each page consists of 32K-bits and can be read or written as 8-bits, 16-bits or 32-bits of data. The device supports three different operating modes - Read Mode, Write Mode and Erase Mode.In Read Mode, data is read from the device by providing the address on the address bus and the data is presented on the data bus. The data can be read in bursts of 8-bits, 16-bits and 32-bits, in increments of 32-bits.In Write Mode, data is written to the device by providing the address on the address bus and the data on the data bus. The data can be written in bursts of 8-bits, 16-bits and 32-bits, in increments of 32-bits.In Erase Mode, the device is erased by providing the page address on the address bus. The page is erased in increments of 32-bits.The 25AA256T-E/SM features an on-board status register and a write address register. The status register is used to determine the device state (busy/ready) and is used to signal the Start signal. The write address register is used to store the addresses of the data which needs to be written.The 25AA256T-E/SM is also provided with an extended reset feature. This feature allows the system to reset the device when using higher voltages, by using a register to store the reset address.The power consumption of the 25AA256T-E/SM is quite low, consuming less than 0.5mA in active mode and less than 25uA in idle mode.
