Circuit breakers are designed to detect and protect devices from overloaded current and accidental short circuits. The type of circuit breaker material suitable for a particular application depends on the current rating and system design parameters.
299-3-4177-7 is a three-pole, double-pole-change type of circuit breaker. It is designed to provide overload and short circuit protection for high-current ratings up to 1,200 A (US Amp). The 299-3-4177-7 has an interrupting rating of 8kA with a line short-circuit capacity of 8kA.
Application Field
The 299-3-4177-7 circuit breaker is suitable for industrial and commercial applications such as general lighting and power circuits, air conditioning and machine operation, and for use in fire alarm systems. It is also suitable for use in transfer switches, high-current distribution systems, motor control, and protection of rectifier systems.
Working Principle
The 299-3-4177-7 circuit breaker uses a switch with a current sensitive element. This element is connected to the line and/or load circuit via the main contacts, in order to measure the current. The switch detects any significant overload or short circuit by the movement of the contacts.
If an overload or short circuit is detected, the device is activated and the circuit is broken. This is done by the device either breaking the current flow by opening the main contacts, or by shorting the line and/or load circuits, thus reducing the current flow. The device automatically resets when the conditions causing the overload or short circuit have been removed.
The 299-3-4177-7 circuit breaker has a trip indicator which displays whether or not the device has tripped. This helps in assessing the nature of the fault and in deciding whether manual resetting of the circuit breaker is required. The indicator also helps to quickly diagnose and reset any potentially serious problems.
