Working Principle

The 299-3-4177-7 circuit breaker uses a switch with a current sensitive element. This element is connected to the line and/or load circuit via the main contacts, in order to measure the current. The switch detects any significant overload or short circuit by the movement of the contacts.

If an overload or short circuit is detected, the device is activated and the circuit is broken. This is done by the device either breaking the current flow by opening the main contacts, or by shorting the line and/or load circuits, thus reducing the current flow. The device automatically resets when the conditions causing the overload or short circuit have been removed.

The 299-3-4177-7 circuit breaker has a trip indicator which displays whether or not the device has tripped.
