Fixed Inductors

The 3094-105FS is an example of a fixed inductor. An inductor is an electrical device consisting of a wire or coil of wire wound into a spiral. Working Principle

The working principle of a fixed inductor is based on Faraday\'s Law of Induction. This law states that a current-carrying conductor produces a magnetic field around it. When the coil of a fixed inductor is subjected to a changing external magnetic field, a voltage is induced in the coil. This voltage opposes the applied voltage and is known as the self-induced voltage or back-EMF. This voltage limits the amount of current through the coil, thus serving as a type of regulator.

The inductor first stores the energy and then releases it in a controlled manner. When a current flows through the inductor, the magnetic energy stored in the coil is proportional to the square of the applied current. As the current through the inductor changes, the magnetic field and stored energy also change, causing a voltage (the self-induced voltage) to be induced in the inductor. The magnitude of this voltage depends on the rate of change of the current, which in turn depends on the inductance of the coil. As the current increases, the self-induced voltage will decrease, eventually reaching zero when the current reaches its maximum level.

Fixed inductors are widely used in power supplies, telecommunications, motors and many other applications. They offer a reliable and efficient way of regulating the amount of current in a circuit. Fixed inductors are also a key part of filters, used to block out high and low frequencies and provide isolation from unwanted signals.
