Temperature Sensors - RTD (Resistance Temperature Detector)
RTDs, or Resistance Temperature Detectors, are sensors that are used to measure temperatures of various different substances. In a nutshell, a RTD works by using the fact that resistance is inversely proportional to temperature. Thus, a RTD has a specific resistance at a given temperature, and this value is used to calculate the temperature of the substance that it is sensing.
RTDs are useful in a variety of applications and can be used to measure temperatures in a range of different environments. In general, they are used to measure temperatures in closed systems, such as process control systems, or in open systems, such as industrial boilers or hot water systems.
